Fermi: A Dozen Years of Discovery
Abstract
Fermi recently celebrated its twelfth birthday on orbit and shows no signs of slowing down. In this talk, I will give a brief overview of the current mission status and recent major results. In particular, I will focus on the spectacular success of Fermi in expanding the known population of high-energy pulsars. The third pulsar catalog contains over 250 gamma-ray pulsars, many of which have been found directly in Fermi data or in targeted searches of Fermi sources. Some of the brightest of these have also been detected by ground-based Cherenkov telescopes, making the Fermi pulsar population of particular interest for CTA.
